Getting Ready for Your First Appointment
New patients are welcome at our clinic, and we focus on comfortable relationship-based care. To make your first appointment easy and stress-free, bring a valid government-issued ID, your insurance card (if you have one), a list of current medications, and any previous dental records or X-rays you may have. If you are eligible, bring your CDCP or NIHB benefit card.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to complete forms and register your parking at the front desk. You are welcome to write down any questions you'd like us to answer or bring a support person for comfort. What Happens During Your First Visit?
Your appointment begins with a review of your medical and dental history, including your medications and any health changes. We then carry out a comprehensive oral examination, digital X-rays if needed, a professional cleaning, and an oral cancer screening. Our exams follow Alberta guidelines, and we only take X-rays when clinically indicated. After your exam and cleaning, we'll discuss your oral health and provide a personalized treatment plan.
You will receive advice on brushing, flossing, and diet, as well as recommendations for any needed treatments. We can help you schedule follow-up visits and make informed decisions about your care.
We explain all findings transparently, using X-rays or photos, and discuss all treatment options including what happens if you wait. You will never be pressured; our priority is empowering you to make an informed choice.
Children’s First Visits
If you're bringing your child, we make first visits fun and stress-free, gently examine their teeth, gums, and jaw development, and discuss brushing techniques and diet tips. We use a warm, family-friendly approach to ensure a positive experience. Preventive treatments such as fluoride may be offered if needed.
If You Have Dental Anxiety
Dentistry can be stressful if you have anxiety, but you are not alone. Please mention any anxiety when you arrive, our team has solutions to help you feel comfortable. For patients who need extra support, we offer sedation options so you can relax and receive care with confidence.
Insurance, Billing, and Payment Options
We direct-bill most major insurance plans and accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Just bring your insurance card, and we handle the billing process so you pay only your portion. If you have questions about what’s included or your coverage, we discuss this transparently as part of your appointment. If needed, we offer 0% interest financing so you can access the care you need without financial stress.
