Dental Implants
That Last a Lifetime
The gold standard for replacing missing teeth. Dental implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth — and with proper care, they can last a lifetime.
About Dental Implants
A dental implant is a titanium post surgically placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over several months (osseointegration) to create a stable, permanent foundation for a crown, bridge, or denture. Unlike bridges, implants don't require altering adjacent healthy teeth; unlike dentures, they don't slip or click.
Beyond aesthetics and function, implants have an important health benefit: they stimulate the jawbone, preventing the bone loss that occurs when teeth are missing. This preserves your facial structure and prevents the sunken appearance that long-term denture wearers often experience.
What to Expect
Assessment & Planning
We take 3D cone beam X-rays to assess bone volume and density, and create a precise surgical plan for implant placement.
Implant Placement
The titanium implant is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. Most patients find the procedure more comfortable than expected.
Osseointegration
Over 3–6 months, the implant fuses with your bone. A temporary restoration may be placed during this healing phase.
Crown Placement
Once fully integrated, a custom-made porcelain crown is attached — completing your new tooth with natural appearance and full function.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I a candidate for dental implants?
Most healthy adults with sufficient jawbone are candidates. Conditions like uncontrolled diabetes or active gum disease may need to be managed first. A thorough assessment tells us exactly what's possible for your specific situation.
How long do dental implants last?
Implant posts can last decades — often a lifetime — with proper care. The crown on top may need replacing after 15–20 years due to normal wear. Success rates are over 95% at 10 years.
Does implant placement hurt?
The placement surgery is performed under local anaesthetic. Most patients report the procedure felt more comfortable than they expected. Post-operative soreness for a few days is normal and well managed with standard pain medication.
