We welcome new patients of all ages at our Calgary dental clinic on 17th Avenue SW, serving communities including Beltline, Sunalta, Bankview, Mission, Mount Royal, and downtown Calgary. Our focus is making your first dental visit comfortable, welcoming, and stress-free.

What to Bring to Your First Dental Appointment

For your first dental appointment, we ask you to bring a valid government-issued ID, your insurance card (if you have one), a list of your current medications, and any previous dental records or X-rays you may have. If you're eligible for coverage, bring your Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) or NIHB benefit card. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to complete new patient forms and register your free parking at the front desk. You're welcome to write down questions you'd like us to answer, or bring a support person if that helps you feel comfortable. If you feel nervous or experience dental anxiety, let us know – we offer understanding and solutions to help you feel at ease.

What Happens During Your First Visit

During your first visit, we will review your medical and dental history, including medications and recent health changes. We then perform a comprehensive oral exam, take digital X-rays if needed, complete a professional cleaning, and do an oral cancer screening. We follow Alberta guidelines and only take X-rays when clinically necessary. After your exam and cleaning, we'll sit down together to discuss your oral health and create a personalized treatment plan based on your needs.

Making Children’s First Visits Comfortable

For children, our first visits are gentle and friendly, with a focus on getting to know your child, examining teeth, gums, and jaw development, discussing good brushing and diet habits, and offering preventive care such as fluoride if needed. Parents are always welcome to join their child for comfort, and our clinic is designed to feel welcoming for families. Bringing your child in the morning when they are fresh and using positive reinforcement or reading stories about dental visits can help make their experience even better.

Amenities and Support for Your Visit

Every new patient at our clinic receives a complimentary whitening kit or electric toothbrush as our way of welcoming you. We direct bill most major insurance plans – just bring your insurance card and we’ll handle the paperwork; you only pay your portion. We are open six days a week and offer free parking, with parking available just north of our building via 15th Street SW. Our team speaks six languages to support Calgary’s diverse community.

How We Help with Dental Anxiety

We want every visit to feel relaxed and positive. Sedation options, including nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation, are available if you experience dental anxiety. Share any concerns before or during your visit – we are always here to help you feel comfortable.

Before and After Your Appointment

You can complete your new patient registration and medical history forms ahead of time to save time at your appointment, or fill them out when you arrive. After your exam, we review findings with you, show you X-rays or photos, and discuss all treatment options.

No Judgement, Only Support

You will never be judged or pressured at our clinic – we are always happy to see you, whether this is your first visit in years or your family's dental home for generations.
