We welcome new patients of all ages at our dental clinic on 17th Avenue SW in Calgary, offering general, family, cosmetic, restorative, orthodontic, children’s, sedation, and preventive dental care.
What Should You Bring to Your First Dental Appointment?
At your first appointment, please bring a valid government-issued ID, your insurance card (if you have one), a list of your current medications, and any previous dental records or X-rays you possess. If you are eligible, remember to bring your CDCP or NIHB benefit card for dental coverage.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to complete forms and register your parking at the front desk. You're welcome to write down any questions you'd like us to answer at your visit or bring a support person if that helps you feel comfortable. If you are nervous or experience dental anxiety, please let us know so we can provide understanding and solutions to help you feel at ease.
What Happens During Your First Visit?
Your appointment will begin with a review of your medical and dental history, including medications and any recent health changes. We then perform a comprehensive oral examination, digital X-rays when needed, a professional cleaning, and an oral cancer screening. Our exams follow Alberta guidelines and we only take X-rays when clinically necessary.
After your exam and cleaning, we'll talk together about your oral health and recommend a personalized treatment plan.
Preparing for Your Child’s First Dental Visit
For children's first visits, we focus on keeping things gentle and friendly, examining teeth, gums, and jaw development, discussing brushing and diet, offering preventive care like fluoride if needed, and making the visit fun and stress-free. If your child is nervous, bringing them in the morning when they are fresh can be helpful, as can positive reinforcement or reading stories about dental visits.
Our clinic is designed to feel welcoming for children, and parents are welcome to join for comfort. We accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), and eligible children receive covered preventive dental care.
What Amenities and Support Do We Offer?
Every new patient receives a complimentary whitening kit or electric toothbrush as a welcome gift after their first visit. Our team speaks six languages to ensure we can support Calgary’s diverse community. Parking is free and easily accessible just north of our building via 15th Street SW. Our practice is open six days a week for your convenience.
How We Handle Insurance, Billing, and Payment Options
We direct bill most major insurance plans, so please bring your insurance card and we will handle the paperwork. You only pay your portion.
